What a lovely, sunny day for the Spring Equinox, and this inaugural blog post! I hope to write a bit more on here about the day-to-day running of the B&B, local events that I think my guests might be interested in, the odd recipe, and of course my adventures with Charlie the dog who arrived here in early January. In these photos you can see the big back garden that guests have access to. The blue summerhouse is a cosy spot to read in or write in. I'll do a proper post on that once I've done the spring clear out of spiders. The goal this year is to spider-proof the summerhouse so that they don't leap out from behind the books on the shelves, or the croquet set on the floor. I wish I wasn't scared of them. I do take care to remove them carefully and relocate them. Now a little update on Charlie. This is his default position when not out on a walk. He has been here just over 2 months now and settled in really well. He still barks a bit at guests but usually stops after a short while (with the first guests it took a few days for the barking to stop so this is real progress!!) He loves chasing balls, especially squeaky ones, and is learning to drop them so they can be thrown again. It turns out he can swim to retrieve balls too. Like everyone else we are fed up of trudging through mud in the woods, and getting rained on, but we are now getting some sunny days so hopefully that means more bookings! Charlie loves meeting new people, and friendly dogs who want to play chase!
